BLACKSMITH SHOP
Long a goal of the Historic Arkansas Museum, located in downtown Little Rock, this project involved the design and construction of an 1840's period blacksmith shop. Intensely researched and executed by skilled tradesmen, the structure is open for tourists interested in learning about this vital nineteenth century craft.
From the timber frame, to the use of period-correct hardware, leather bellows, hand-made brick forge and simulated lime wash-- almost everything about the blacksmith shop is true to period.
In the photographs is master blacksmith and expert knife maker, Lin Rhea.
